Even though in today’s globalised world the command of foreign languages is a basic requirement, successful senior managers came to acknowledge that no good language course can replace a good interpreter! In the course of meetings, negotiations and business conversations a connection must be built not only between languages, but even across cultures, and a communication channel must be established between the parties.

The success of a business to a large extent depends on linguistic delicacies, on the professional capability, appearance and experience of the parties. IdeaFortis pays special attention to this, we only contract seasoned interpreters who excel not only at a linguistic level, but are also well-prepared regarding your business or project. The interpreting task therefore starts well ahead of the event itself; the interpreter studies the materials you provided and preparation might require additional information to ensure that the interpreting of extremely technical or special topics would be of excellent quality.

Simultaneous interpreting

SzinkrontolmácsolásInterpreting at multilingual presentations and conferences occurs simultaneously, at the same time when the actual speech is delivered, therefore it is very important to ensure that no other noise disturbs the interpreter and that she/he can hear the speech in a clear manner and interpret it into the microphone, usually in a separate, soundproof interpretation booth. Simultaneous interpreting is the most tiresome interpreting activity, therefore the interpreters in the booth take turns about every 20 minutes. In case of a multilingual audience the number of languages spoken determines the number of booths required.

Tip: When you order interpreting services it is important to specify the field and topic of the conference (whether it is legal, financial, medical, technical, business, etc.) and possibly provide written materials to help the interpreter’s preparation. All prior information helps the preparation of our interpreters and the smooth organisation of the event to be interpreted.

Chuchotage

Fülbesúgó tolmácsolás

In case of chuchotage there is a larger group and interpreting is provided only for one or two people who don’t speak the language of the event. It is conducted with the same technique used at either simultaneous or consecutive interpreting, but without the booth. The interpreter sits closely behind or next to the foreign guests and whispers the content delivered by the conference speaker to the guest’s or guests’ ear.

Tip: During chuchotage interpreting it must be taken into consideration that this technique generates constant noise that can disturb other participants of the event.

Consecutive interpreting

Konszekutív tolmácsolás

This type of interpreting is used in smaller meetings and negotiations. The consecutive interpreter is an immediate participant in the negotiation, and the direction of the interpreting occurs in both directions. The speech of the negotiating partners is interpreted out loud either sentence by sentence or in blocks. Consecutive interpreting could result in significantly longer negotiation times.

Liaison interpreting

Kísérő tolmácsolás Liaison interpreters are at the disposal of one person in various locations. This service is usually requested to support occasional communication (e.g. practical education, on-site visits, factory visits, ladies’ programmes, fairs, etc.)
